What have we done?!

We are departing Calgary on Thursday, November 3, 2011.  We arrive in Perth on Saturday, November 5, 2011.  In the meantime, we stop in Los Angeles and then Brisbane.  Somehow we manage to lose an entire day from our lives in the process.  Must be one of those space-time things that Einstein predicted.

Over the last few days we have experienced quite a bit of anxiety about our move.  I have personally been questioning whether this was the right choice to make.  All of our family, for the most part, are in Calgary. Both Nadia and I loved our jobs.  The kids liked their schools and have good friends in Calgary.  We were very comfortable in our home and the mortgage would have likely been paid off in about 7 years while Nadia and I would both be in our mid-40's (although Nadia would really be in her mid to late 40's).  All in all, everything was fine here.  So, why on Earth would we leave?

Then I got up this morning and looked outside to see snow on the ground.
Today's forecast for Calgary: Mainly cloudy with 30 percent chance of rain showers or flurries near noon. (I can confirm that there was a 100% chance of snow) Clearing this afternoon. Wind coming out of the god-forsaken frozen tundra becoming unbearable and from the west 30 km/h gusting to 50 this afternoon. High 6.

Today's forecast for Perth: At 1:00am 21C with a few clouds.  A slight breeze coming from the heavens.  Sunny and a high of 28.

Don't get me wrong, it's not all about the weather but as they say "so much depends upon the weather..."  It's also about the beach, the ocean, the desert and other stuff that I've forgotten about while looking at the picture of Perth.
