School Search A Bust

Well, we toiled in the trenches all day yesterday and, unfortunately, are no further ahead in our school/property search.  We checked out two school and they had pros and cons, but no real winner.  We also toured a number of neighbourhoods and came to the same conclusions.  Lots of pros and cons, but we are stuck in a purgetory of catch 22's.  We pick a house but it doesn't work for schools or we pick a school and realize that it's not a good neighbourhood or we can't afford the housing costs.  We seem to end up more confused after every one of these searches.  What we need is to be on an episode of urban/suburban.  Some of the areas we are looking at are comparable to the Sundance area of Calgary in relation to downtown.  Very suburban, not many trees, big shopping complexes, but you get a lot more house for your money and get a lot closer to the beach(which is a priority for us).  The other areas are a bit closer, smaller houses, more trees etc, same as anywhere else.  Like we said before the housing prices are very steep.  In the heart of the burbs the median house price is $750,00.  Closer to town $750,000 gets you land with a house that needs to be demolished.  In the middle it gets you a shack, beside a 3million dollar house. Of course rents follow suit and sure is making our decisions difficult.  At least we are getting more information which is useful no matter what.  We have to wait until Monday for our next school visit.  It's hard to wait as we are down to two weeks left of our rental apartment before we are out on the streets.  Oh well, we have lots of backpackers, ozzy drunks and homeless to keep us company right out our door!
On a positive note, our air frieght has finally been located and will be delivered tomorrow.  Mike will  have some clothes to wear to work!
Also, good news, I found something that is cheaper here than in Calgary.  You guessed it, Parking!  In the heart of Freemantle, the most tourist heavy area of the city it only cost $6.50 to park for the day.  We'll spend a lot of time down there.  However, you don't want to get hungry if your there.  We got 4 burgers, 3 fries, and 2 pop for $74.80.  I have the receipt for proof.
It's overcast today and a cool 23 degrees so I'm off to take advantage of the neighbourhood we are staying in.  I'm going to walk down to the Art Gally of Western Australia and take a spin.  More great news, it's Free!  I might even treat myself to a cappucino in the square.  It's actually very nice to be able to walk out the door and walk around a very vibrant neighbourhood.  I usually walk over to the market to pick up dinner and a few staples.  It's a really fantastic benefit to where we are. I can't seem to convince to kids to join me.  They are just too worn out.  How quickly they aclimatize to the culture.  I told the boys yesterday we had an appointment at 11 and Zaren said, "Why so early?"  He was dead serious! So today they having a quiet day.  Keva's perfectly happy skyping with her friends from home and being on facebook incessantely.  I guess we'll let it go for now.  For the time being anything goes as long as they are happy!
