Saturday was a day of a few firsts for us, although every day is at this stage.
In the morning we went shopping at the mall. It is very much like a Canadian mall except that it is open-air. Lots of teenagers making lots of ridiculous noises, lots of people trying to elbow their way into the best merchandise and lots of crowds. Viva materialism!
Before we even left Canada Jen and Tony King hooked us up with some friends of theirs that live in Perth, Kylie and Kenny Fraser. Last night we went over to their place for our first official Oz Barby. They were
very gracious hosts and very nice people. Oddly enough, no shrimp was served but we did have beef, sausage, cous-cous (sp?) and salad. It was certainly our best meal and best company in Oz thus far. I also had my first Oz beer(s) and wine (from just south of Perth).
Zaren and Cyrus going for a pre-dinner swim
Sitting down to eat (and drink)
Keva playing with her new friends. They were very cute.
Today, we are living dangerously: we are renting a car and going to look at some neighbourhoods. We still often look the wrong way when crossing the street so I'm not sure how well this work out. Fingers crossed (and airbags on!). Why won't these people just start driving properly?
